Trimester 1
The emphasis in trimester 1 is on the development of ideas: Delivered through a taught programme of lectures, seminars, group critiques, and assignments Research Methodologies introduces generic methodologies and considers subject specific data retrieval analysis and evaluation techniques. Through The Development of Product, Market Research and Product Ideas you will negotiate a programme of study developing ideas technically and aesthetically, and applying in
- depth investigation into techniques and researching the chosen market.
Trimester 2
During the second trimester you'll take two modules: Marketing Skills comprises of lectures, seminars and research and is about developing relevant professional skills and understanding of marketing requirements for textile designers, makers and artists Negotiated by each student, Product Sampling and Development and Research involves initial product sampling techniques and investigation, range planning and the development and progression of ideas to product level.
Trimester 3
The final trimester involves a further negotiated major study. This practice
- based Master's Project is about bringing ideas to a professional conclusion often in the form of an exhibition of finished work and supporting promotional materials. Part time students follow the same sequence of modules, but do so over seven trimesters (or 28 months).
Course assessment
The PG Cert is assessed by studio exhibition and/or portfolio presentation with a marketing assignment. The PG Dip involves a written report including market analysis of your chosen product field. Practical work is presented by studio work and/or portfolio and an evaluative report. For the MA you will present a cohesive body of creative work, supported by an extended report.
