These include cleaning, food service and traditional tasks, for example, the movement of patients and the transportation of patients to appointments and procedures within a hospital or care center for the elderly.
With experience and additional training, nursing assistants and patient care can become registered nurses or registered nurses.

Students may enrol directly into the diploma or advanced diploma levels without completing lower ranked qualifications.
