BA IN GRAPHIC DESIGN AND VISUAL COMMUNICATION

This bachelor's degree provides three years of preparation for you to embark upon a career in the world of visual communication. The course exposes you to a broad range of concepts and practices related to artistic direction, design, advertising and production. This course provides exposure to the wide variety of technical, managerial and organisational issues essential to effective commercial deployment of data communication systems.
Teaching and Assessment Assessment Each of the eight course modules is assessed either by formal examination, written assignments or a combination of the two. Hand-in dates for the assignments are specified at the beginning of the academic year. Examinations are normally taken in January and May. Successful completion of the first part of the programme allows the student to proceed to the dissertation stage. To qualify for the award of the MSc degree the student must submit a satisfactory dissertation.

This piping design and stress analysis course covers topics integral to piping design and stress analysis. Participants will learn piping design fundamentals, the factors that affect preliminary piping design, initial layout, overall system configuration, and essential principles of pipe stress analysis.

Teaching and Assessment Teaching As a research intensive university, international level research findings by Brunel Business School tutors are regularly used in student lectures. Tutors on this programme are leaders in the field of HR and active researchers within the school’s Human Resource Management and Organization Behaviour Research Group (HRM - OB). Examples of tutor research used in MSc Human Resources & Employment Relations include: Professor Neil Anderson Professor Anderson provides several of his seminal review papers, empirical studies, and theoretical models for consideration by the students and additional readings are also provided. Students are asked to present back in small groups, having critically assessed research findings for themselves. As the findings are both confirmatory and non-confirmatory, the ensuing debate is used to improve their understanding of whether high-performance HRM practices do indeed contribute to organisational performance and profitability. Professor Anderson is also an Academic CIPD Fellow. Professor Mustafa Ozbilgin The programme’s Global Diversity Management module is designed around Professor Ozbilgin’s research in diversity management in multi-national organisations within the public private and voluntary sectors. In particular, Professor Ozbilgin’s book Global Diversity Management: An Evidence Based Approach (2008) co-authored with Dr Ahu Tatli is used as the core text on the module. The book is the only empirical research based text in the field, and provides original field work on diversity management that spreads across eight years. Other Business School research by Professor Ozbilgin is used for the practice of literature reviews. Further to this Professor Ozbilgin is Academic CIPD Fellow and regularly uses CIPD reports that he has co-authored. Students also receive case studies and case reports by the tutor.

The Fashion Styling and Forecasting course at LCCA teaches you about the cyclical nature of the fashion industry. You will understand why fashion forecasting is used by companies and it influences the fashion industry. You will also be taught the basics of fashion styling. Editorial shoots, look-book shoots and personal styling will all be explored during the course.

CREATIVE PATTERN CUTTING

The Creative Pattern Course at LCCA gives you an introduction to the design development process used by fashion designers. Also you will learn the basics of pattern cutting, draping techniques and you will develop the ability to create required styles given in a specification. Over the ten-week period, you will become accustomed to drafting blocks and translating them into your own style, growing in confidence as a designer.

MA IN FASHION RETAIL AND LUXURY MANAGEMENT

The MA in Fashion Retail and Luxury Management programme merges aspects retail and management, resulting in students gaining practical knowledge and skills in more than one discipline.
From analysis of the fashion system to the study of marketing techniques, the content of this programme will provide students with an extremely thorough understanding of the industry. The course also looks closely at fashion as a cultural, social and historical system characterised by ever-evolving trends.
