CREATIVE PATTERN CUTTING

The Creative Pattern Course at LCCA gives you an introduction to the design development process used by fashion designers. Also you will learn the basics of pattern cutting, draping techniques and you will develop the ability to create required styles given in a specification. Over the ten-week period, you will become accustomed to drafting blocks and translating them into your own style, growing in confidence as a designer.

FASHION AND PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE

This course is a combination of lectures, practical workshops and visits to exhibitions, you will learn how to restyle existing garments and create a specific look for a fashion shoot, as well as how to photograph in a digital studio and on location.
Working individually and in teams, you will develop your own ideas and create a fashion photo-shoot from concept to execution, producing customised garments along the way to reflect different themes.

BA IN FASHION DESIGN

The BA in Fashion Design programme enables students to acquire a range of technical, analytical and research skills needed to achieve a successful career in the fashion industry. A combination of practical and theoretical elements help students develop a contextual understanding of fashion design, garment manufacture and fashion image-making.

The Fashion Illustration course at LCCA allows you to explore various techniques used to create fashion illustrations. You will see your sketching and painting skills improve in leaps and bounds, focusing on things such as body proportions and silhouettes. The course will also incorporate use of CAD, broadening your fashion illustration skillset.

FASHION BUSINESS

The Fashion Business course at LCCA will introduce you to the business side of the fashion industry. You will be learning the fundamentals of the design process, branding, promotion and marketing in order to sell the designs. By the end of the course, you will have basic understanding of the fashion industry as a whole and the business behind making it one of the most dynamic industries in the world.

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN FASHION DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE

his course covers the fundamentals of the fashion design process as well as using machinery for pattern and garment construction.
The course also teached students about fashion illustration, the trend forecasting, developing a collection, how to put a collection into the context of the fashion industry, where to show a collection and ultimately how to sell it a collection.

FASHION AND EDITORIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

The Fashion and Editorial Photography course at LCCA will teach you the skills needed to create images for a number of different commissioners, such as fashion designers and magazines. You will discover the different stages involved in organising a fashion shoot, from the initial concept to the realisation. Working individually and in groups, you will develop strong ideas before participating in a magazine-style editorial shoot.

The Fashion Design course at LCCA will introduce you to the design processes used when creating garments, covering a variety of topics from colours and silhouettes to prints and fabrics. You will also explore the processes crucial to bringing a concept into reality. Once you have completed the course, you will have the ability to research fashion thoroughly and create beautifully designed garments.

BA IN LUXURY FASHION BUSINESS AND MARKETING

BA in Luxury, Fashion Business and Marketing prepares students for a successful career in the prosperous industries of luxury and fashion. Over the duration of the course, students have the opportunity to increase their knowledge in subjects vital to breaking the industry. These include: accounting, company and labour law, marketing and international business. Students will also develop an in-depth understanding of these industries operate on a global basis. LCCA is closely associated with Mod¿Art in Paris, giving students the opportunity to learn French, either at beginner or intermediate level. London and Paris are complementary fashion capitals of the world, meaning students can find inspiration in two cities. LCCA staff are also experts in their fields, who draw from a wealth of industry knowledge and fascinating insights to pass onto students.

The course has links with other parts of the University, particularly the Faculty of History, the Department of History of Art, and Kellogg College, amongst the fellows of which is the largest concentration of architectural historians associated with the University.

An overview of the course structure is provided below. Details of the compulsory elements of the course are provided in the Course components section of this page.
The course is taught over one year from October to September, comprising three 10-week terms and a fourth summer term.
The first term covers core material using lectures, tutorials and practical work, and aims to ensure that students achieve the core knowledge of the principles and practice of pharmacology. At the end of the term, you will sit a computer-based qualifying exam passing this exam allows you to continue the course.
