This short, practical course provides comprehensive training on the design, installation, testing, and inspection of electric vehicle charging points. Learners will develop a sound understanding of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, including the integration of smart technology, load management, and safe isolation procedures.
Training is delivered through a blend of classroom-based theory and hands-on practical assessment using industry-standard EV charging units. Successful candidates will gain a recognised City & Guilds qualification, enabling them to meet the requirements of OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) schemes and operate as approved EV charge point installers. Where can I progress next?
On completion, learners can register with manufacturer or government-approved EV installation schemes and expand into the renewable energy and smart technology sectors. This qualification also provides a pathway to further upskilling in solar PV, battery storage, or integrated energy management systems.
